North Kensington Social Justice Archive (NKSJA) – Pilot Terms & Conditions

By contributing to the NKSJA pilot project, you agree to the following terms:

1. Purpose

This pilot, initiated by Jacob Rety, offers a practical way to test a decentralised digital archive using Solid technology. Contributions and feedback will help research community interest and the potential for adopting this approach. Running this demonstration directly responds to the Council’s Key Decision Report, which calls for community-led, future-proofed archiving. By using Solid Pods, the pilot shows how trust, ownership, and digital access can be embedded from the outset, aligning with the governance, engagement, and preservation priorities set out for the Social Justice Archive.

2. Contributions

  • You may contribute files such as documents, photographs, audio, video, or other digital materials.
  • You confirm that you either own the material you upload, or you have permission to share it.
  • You remain the owner of your contribution.

3. Use of Contributions

  • By contributing, you give permission for your material to be included in the pilot archive and made accessible to other participants.
  • The material may be used for demonstration, research, and community engagement related to the archive project.
  • You can request removal of your contributions at any time.

4. Privacy & Data

  • Contributions may include metadata (e.g., title, date, creator).
  • Personal information should only be shared if you are comfortable with it being stored and viewed by others.
  • The pilot uses decentralised technology (Solid Pods), meaning you retain control over your data and who can access it.

5. Responsibilities

  • Contributors must not upload offensive, unlawful, or harmful content.
  • Contributors are responsible for ensuring they have the right to share materials.
  • Guidance and technical support provided on request during the pilot phase. Long-term storage is not offered.

6.Ending Participation

  • You may withdraw your participation at any time.
  • Content may be removed from NKSJA demo if contributions breach these terms.

7.Next Steps

By taking part in this pioneering work, we can see what a decentralised archive might look like and how this could support its adoption.
